- <p> It's the broccoli thing. George Bush detests the vegetable
- and won't eat it on Air Force One or in the White House.
- Hearing of this, California broccoli growers sent ten tons to
- Washington last week. It's for a food bank, but two cartons are
- destined for the White House. Not even his redoubtable wife
- Barbara can educate the First Palate to Brassica oleracea
- italica. "My mother made me eat it," says Bush. "And I'm
- President of the U.S., and I'm not going to eat any more
- broccoli."
